Bio

Adam Bowes is a Sydney-based actor and writer whose credits include 'Hacksaw Ridge', ABC’s 'The Angus Project', and the heartfelt short film 'Diving In', which he co-wrote and co-directed with Nina Oyama. He’s passionate about authentic, character-driven storytelling, especially stories that reflect lived experience. Adam is a double above-knee amputee and proud advocate for inclusive representation in film and television.

Originally from Yamba, a small coastal town on the Far North Coast of NSW, Adam began performing in musicals and making short films with family and friends as a teenager. His love for storytelling eventually led him to train at Screenwise (2-Year Diploma of Screen Acting), followed by a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theatre) at the Australian Institute of Music, where he refined his skills in voice, acting and movement and performed his graduating recital 'Define Normal'.

His screen work includes roles in, 'Winchester' (alongside Jason Clarke and Helen Mirren), The Heights (ABC), 'Rostered On' (Netflix), and the award-winning 'Jeremy the Dud'. He played George Gleeson in the acclaimed web series 'Call me Katie' and its sequel 'Nothing Like the Sun', earning a Best Onscreen Chemistry award.

In 2019, Adam made a special appearance on ABC’s 'The Recording Studio', surprising his now-wife Sarah with a recording of their first dance song, played at their wedding later that year. It remains one of his most cherished moments on screen.

Whether in front of the camera or behind the scenes, Adam approaches each project with care, curiosity and a genuine desire to collaborate. Adam currently lives in Sydney with Sarah and their young son Theodore, and continues to develop new screen projects focused on human connection and diverse voices.

Adam's no dud in new short film on disability

IMAGINE a world where having a disability was the norm, and those who didn't were known as duds and experienced condescending and patronising attitudes - as people with disabilities experience every day.
